A stampede-like situation was reported on Puri’s Grand Road (Bada Danda) during the Rath Yatra after a massive surge of devotees led to severe overcrowding.
According to initial information, around 120 devotees experienced breathing difficulties and were rescued by Special Rescue Unit (SRU) teams before being admitted to Puri Medical for treatment.
Sources have also reported one death in the incident. However, authorities have not officially confirmed the fatality so far.
Officials are closely monitoring the situation and have intensified crowd management and emergency response measures to ensure the safety of pilgrims.
