After arrest Sonam Wangchuk’s wife Gitanjali Angmo spoke about his detention., Ladakh police detained the climate activist under the National Security Act.
They searched his home at 12 pm, took his devices, and informed him of the detention. Angmo says Wangchuk is not a threat to public order. He has protested peacefully for 4 years, demanding what the government promised. She believes the NSA was used to harass him before October elections.
Angmo denies anti-national claims, stating they support India and truth. She calls the land allotment cancellation and investigations ‘witch hunting’, asserting they’ve done nothing wrong.

Born in 1966 in a village near Leh, Wangchuk had been homeschooled until he was nine. In 1975, after his father Sonam Wangyal became a minister in the then J&K govt, the family moved to Srinagar.
