Today, Mahant Rohit Shastri meet Professor Amitabh Mattoo ji, Padma Shri awardee, at the revered Sharika Mata Temple in Srinagar.
Professor Amitabh Mattoo is a distinguished Indian academic, political scientist, and author specializing in international relations, political science, and contemporary history. He was conferred the Padma Shri, one of India’s highest civilian honors, by the Government of India in 2009 while serving as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu.
He currently serves as the Dean, Chair, and Professor at the School of International Studies,
Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU). He is also an Honorary Professor of International Relations at the University of Melbourne and a Distinguished Fellow of the Australia India Institute.
In addition, he holds the inaugural Chair of Excellence at the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Nilgiris. Professor Mattoo served as the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jammu from 2002 to 2008 and as a Cabinet-rank Advisor to the Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir from 2015 to 2018.
