PECUC organized a block level training programme for GPCPC members in Balianta block

A one-day training program for the members of the Gram Panchayat Child Protection Committee was organized at the Panchayat Samiti Conference Hall, Balianta Block by People’s Cultural Center (PECUC), in collaboration with Adoptsancentrum and in cooperation with Balianta Panchayat Samiti. Stating the importance of this training programme Mr. Ranjan Kumar Mohanty, Secretary PECUC said “children require a safe, protective, and enabling environment for their overall development. It is our collective responsibility to ensure a safe environment for them and for this reason child protection system should be strengthened at various level.”
Joining the inaugural session, Rasmita Nath, BDO, Balianta said that Gram Panchayat Child Protection Committee plays a very important role in protecting children at grassroot. The administration is taking strong measures to strengthen the child protection mechanism at different level. Dr. Gayatri Mishra, Medical Officer in Charge, Balakati Community Health Centre, spoke about children’s health and emphasized the importance of awareness for ensuring their safe and healthy lives. Mrs. Anuradha Mohanty, the Executive Director of PECUC, welcomed the guests and shared the objective of this training and said that strengthening the protection mechanism at the grassroot will ensure the safety and well-being of children.

Joining this training programme Banishree Pattnaik, DCPO, Khordha spoke about structure, roles and responsibilities of the members of the Panchayat Level Child Protection Committees, reporting and referral mechanisms and various schemes and programmes of Govt. Debashree Behera, ALO, Balianta discussed about Child and Adolescent Labour (Prohibition and Regulation) Act as well as various schemes and programmes of labour department to prevent child labour. In this training programme more than 80 representatives including officers of various departments at the block level, Sarpanch, Panchayat Extension Officer, CRCC, ICDS Supervisors, ANM, members of women’s groups took part and participated in the discussion. Upama Mohanty, Block Coordinator of PECUC gave vote of thanks and Rashmee Rekha Sahoo, Ankita Barik, Bishnupriya Mohapatra, Bamdev Jena of PECUC facilitated the program.
