A magnitude 6.1 earthquake hit Taiwan’s southeastern coastal county, Taitung, on Wednesday. It shook the buildings of the capital, Taipei.

However, no incidents of casualties have been reported, according to Reuters. As per the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ), the quake had a depth of 11.9 km (7.39 miles).

As reported by local media outlet Taiwan News, the epicentre of the earthquake was located 10.1 kilometres north of Taitung County Hall. An intensity level of five was registered in the city of Taitung, while an intensity level of four was recorded in Hualien County and Pingtung County.
