Why Do I Write Massively on Social Media?
Indians spend an average of 2.5 to 3.2 hours daily on social media, with nearly 89% of users engaging every day, primarily through smartphones. The most active users belong to the 18–34 age group. However, much of the content consumed is neither enlightening nor beneficial to society; some of it even has detrimental effects.
This reality perturbs and perplexes me. A significant portion of social media is flooded with misinformation, sensationalism, trivial entertainment, and divisive narratives that weaken rational thinking and social harmony. When people devote such a substantial part of their lives to these platforms, it becomes essential to promote meaningful, ethical, and socially constructive ideas.
Writing responsible and thought-provoking content—even if it is not universally appreciated—is a deliberate effort to counter negativity and replace harmful narratives with truth, reason, and positivity.
I maintain three Facebook accounts, two of which are active. The oldest one alone records more than 38,000 posts. Posting in social media does not ensure any social recognition like publication in news papers , but I still continue to write . This sustained engagement reflects my commitment to spreading awareness and contributing to an informed and enlightened society.
