The Double Standards of Society
Dr. Santosh Kumar Mohapatra
When the rich and powerful enjoy privileges and exercise authority, society and sections of the media often glorify it as sacrifice and public service. But when ordinary people make genuine contributions and sacrifices, their efforts are sometimes dismissed as publicity stunts.
This reflects a disturbing double standard. Society often judges people by their position, power and visibility rather than their commitment, integrity and contribution.
How can society progress if privilege is glorified while genuine service is questioned? People should be recognised for what they contribute, not for the positions they occupy or the power they exercise.
