The Government on Thursday announced the setting up of 8th Pay Commissions for Central Government employees and officers. Once implemented, recommendations will benefit over 1 crore serving and retired Central Government employees and officers.
“Prime Minister has approved 8th Central Pay Commission for central government employees. The chairman and two members of the Commission will be appointed soon,” Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said. As the 7th Pay Commission’s term concludes in 2026, initiating the process in 2025 ensures sufficient time to receive and review recommendations before its completion, the minister added. He said the setting up of the new Pay Commission in 2025 will ensure that its recommendations are received well before the completion of the term of the seventh pay panel.
Though the terms of reference for the new Commission have not been finalised, it is expected to examine, review, evolve, and recommend desirable and feasible changes regarding the principles that should govern the emoluments structure, including pay, allowances, and other facilities/benefits, in cash or kind
