TPCODL STAFFER NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 15,000/- OF OVERALL DEMAND OF BRIBE RS 25,000/- FOR REPLACEMENT OF A DAMAGED ELCTRIC POLE.
EARLIER TAKEN RS.8,000/- VIA UPI TRANSACTION.
Sri Dharma Niranjan Chaudhury, Line man-A of Narsinghpur Electrical Section under TPCODL, Cuttack has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.15,000/- from a farmer for replacement of a damaged elctric pole from his agricultural land. As the 11KV line passed over his land and one damaged elctric pole was in his land in dangerous condition, and fearing any untoward incident, he (farmer) requested local Electric Office. Line man-A, Sri Dharma Niranjan Chaudhury of Narsinghpur Electrical Section, was tasked with the work. For the change of electric pole, Sri Chaudhury demanded bribe of Rs.25,000/- from the farmer. On 2.6.2026, Sri Chaudhury replaced the damaged electric pole with a new one from farmer’s land and received Rs.8,000/- via UPI transaction from the farmer.Further, Sri Chaudhury demanded rest amount Rs.17,000/- from the farmer and didn’t lift the old one from his land.
But, the farmer expressed his inability to pay the rest bribe amount Rs.17,000/-. However, on negotiation, Sri Chaudhury reduced the bribe amount to Rs.15,000/-. Being aggrieved over the matter, the farmer reported the matter to vigilance authorities alleging harassment by the line man-A, Sri Chaudhury. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed, today, Sri Chaudhury while taking bribe Rs.15,000/- from the farmer.The entire bribe amount Rs.15,000/- has been recovered from exclusive possession of Sri Chaudhury and seized.
Following the trap, search is going on at one location of Sri Chaudhury from DA angle.
In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.22 dt.5-6-26, U/s7 PC (Amendment)Act, 2018 has been registered.Investigation is in progress against the accused Sri Chaudhury. Detailed report follows.
