Former constable in the Madhya Pradesh Transport Department, Saurabh Sharma’s massive fortune has left investigation agencies shocked. Currently,

Saurabh Sharma is in Dubai, and the agencies are making efforts to bring him back to India. In raids conducted by the Income Tax Department and Lokayukta at Saurabh’s properties, a total of ₹8 crore worth of cash, silver (235 kg), and jewelry have been recovered. Additionally, branded watches worth ₹17 lakh, ladies’ purses worth ₹15 lakh, and diamond rings have been found.

Saurabh Sharma’s house in the Aarey Colony of Bhopal has been raided, where items such as vehicles and other possessions were found, estimated to be worth ₹2.21 crore. Moreover, gold and diamond jewelry worth ₹50 lakh, and ₹1.15 crore in cash have also been recovered. From his office (Chetan’s house), ₹1.72 crore in cash and 234 kg of silver (worth approximately ₹2.10 crore as estimated by the police) were seized. Seven cash-counting machines were also discovered.

Building a School in Bhopal The Income Tax Department discovered that Saurabh Sharma was constructing a school in Shahpur B sector in Bhopal, covering 20,000 square meters. Additionally, several documents regarding benami properties were recovered, and investigations are ongoing. In the Mandori village of Bhopal, 54 kg of gold and nearly ₹10 crore in cash were found in an Innova car, which is suspected to be linked to Saurabh. The Income Tax Department has questioned Chetan Gaur, the owner of the Innova car.

Petrol Pump in the Driver’s Name Chetan Gaur, Saurabh’s driver and close associate, owns a petrol pump and has a fishery contract in Lalitpur Rajgarh Dam, which is believed to be operated under his name. However, the actual owner of these businesses is suspected to be Saurabh Sharma. Saurabh was using Chetan as a pawn, investing in Chetan’s name due to his trustworthiness. The investigating agencies are still probing these benami properties.

Lokayukta has also gathered information about some of Saurabh and Chetan’s bank lockers. The police were preparing to open the lockers on Saturday, but the keys could not be found. These lockers are believed to contain large sums of cash and jewelry.

How Did a Constable Become a Crorepati? Saurabh Sharma hails from Gwalior, and his father was a prison doctor. In just seven years, Saurabh Sharma has accumulated extraordinary wealth. How he did this is now under investigation. Saurabh got a job as a constable in the Transport Department in 2017 under compassionate grounds after his father’s death. Initially, he spent some time in Gwalior before being assigned to a check post. Gradually, he formed connections with ministers and officials and began managing the funds from the check post. Eventually, Saurabh settled in Bhopal.

According to sources, Saurabh’s wife, Divya Sharma, manages his businesses. Her name is also linked to investments in petrol pumps, crushers, and gold. Saurabh Sharma had appeared for the MPPSC exam twice and reached the main examination stage. Once, he even reached the interview round. After his father’s death, Saurabh received a compassionate appointment in the Transport Department.

Suspicion of Investments in Dubai The Income Tax and Lokayukta teams have found evidence suggesting that Saurabh Sharma may have investments in Dubai as well. Further investigation into the documents recovered from his house and office will reveal the truth. Following the action against Saurabh Sharma, politics in the state has also heated up. State Congress president Jitu Patwari called Saurabh Sharma a small fish in the ocean of corruption, stating that if such a fortune was found with a former constable, one can only imagine what ministers and PSs may have.
