A leopard that was hit by a car on a highway in Davangere, Karnataka, attacked a Forest Department official during a rescue operation, officials said.
Forest personnel reached the spot after the accident and tranquillised the injured animal. However, before the sedative took full effect, the leopard attacked one of the officials, leaving him injured.
The leopard was subsequently secured by the Forest Department and shifted to a hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the road accident.
The rescue operation was successfully completed, and the injured leopard remains under medical care.
