Odisha Vigilance, today i.e on 15-5-2024, a short while ago, Sri Umakanta Behera, Amin, office of Tahasildar, Mahakalapada Tahasil, Dist- Kendrapara has been been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.2000/- from a Complainant to release the detailed report after demarcation of land of complt. completed by Sri Behera a month back. The entire bribe money has been recovered from Sri Behera, Amin and seized.

For last one month, complt. had been requesting Sri Behera to release the demarcation report of his land. But, Sri Behera was demanding bribe Rs 2,000/- to release the said report. Complt. being a poor man was not able to pay the demanded bribe. Hence, finding no other means, complt alleged before Vigilance Authority about his problem over toll-free No 1064 of Odisha Vigilance. Accordingly, Vigilance officials nabbed Sri Behera, Amin today, while accepting the demanded bribe money from complt.

Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Sri Behera from DA angle.

In this connection, Cuttack Vigilance PS case no 12/2024 U/s-7PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered.
