The Supreme Court on Tuesday, March 19, came down heavily on Patanjali Ayurved for failing to file a reply to a contempt notice over misleading advertisements and ordered yoga guru Ramdev and the company’s managing director Acharya Balkrishna to appear before it.

It may be recalled that the top court had last month pulled up Patanjali for prima facie violation of the undertaking it had submitted in the court about its products and statements claiming their medicinal efficacy.

The court had issued a notice to Patanjali asking why contempt proceedings should not be initiated against it. However, Patanjali did not file any response to the notice.
