The question is why should you believe in God or why should not
Rationalists/ atheists donot believe in existence of God while theists belive. Question also creeps in my mind always.
But question is not whether you should belive or not but question is why should you believe and why should not you belive. If one think that not believing God, he/ she can contribute more society, or can get peace then he/ she should do so. By contrast, if one thinks by believing God ,he can contribute to society more and get mental peace, happiness, then he/ she should.
But important thing is that unless one is strongminded, one will suffer more anxiety, depression, if doesn’t believe in God. We have women member in family. All are not employed. They spend times by such rituals. Religion , cultures enhances economic activities, and growth. Faith in God means sublimating ego and accepting concept that someone is watching me. In rural area, religious faith binds people. Religious places attracts us to visit village. In evening, people gather there.
But what is important to prevent religion from being misused especially for political interest. Separating religious obscurantism, fanaticism, superstition from religious faiths is important. Anybody having religious faith or faith in God will prefer to serve parents, help people in distress than having a dip in water or visiting religious place frequently and sharing photos for political gains. Choice is using faith in God for constructive purpose instead of using for political gains. If one does not believe in God, he/ she may not always become scientific or rationalist but may become a criminal , fraudster too.
If you get alienated from society, you many not bring changes as people will not accept. Bringing social reforms is different from not believing God. Social reforms means eliminating negative things from society. For popularising donation of body, widow marriage , visiting doctors instead of village quacks, taking medicine regularly as per advise of doctors etc.
