Attack Frequency: This incident is the fourth shark attack reported off Australia’s east coast in three days, as officials confirmed on Friday, indicating a concentrated period of activity.
Previous Attacks: Earlier attacks included a 17-year-old bitten off Fraser Island and a 28-year-old attacked near Port Macquarie on Tuesday. A 36-year-old spearfisherman suffered serious leg injuries on Wednesday off Fraser Island.
