Brahmapur, March 22: On the occasion of World Water Day, a youth conference was organized at Samantaray Academy in Gosaninugaon based on the theme “Youth Voice, Equal Rights, and Equal Water.” The event was jointly organized by ISRD, Youth for Water Plus (Bhubaneswar), Blue Community – Global Network, and the One Stop Center, Brahmapur.

On this occasion, in-depth discussions were held on water scarcity, climate change, and the need for equitable distribution of water in society. Emphasizing the role of the younger generation and promoting active leadership of women in water management, distinguished guests including Dr. Narayan Tiwari (Berhampur University), Dr. Sudhir Raut (Director, Aryabhatta Institute), Dr. Sankarshan Bej (Former District Coordinator, Eco Club), Mr. Maheshwar Barad (General Secretary, Pujya Puja Sansad), Mr. Bijay Kumar Biswal (Retired Headmaster), Mr. Debesh Samantaray (Director, Samantaray Academy), Mr. Sachidananda Nayak (President, ISRD), and Mrs. Maheshwata Padhi (Center Administrator, One Stop Center) attended and called upon the youth to take action for water conservation and equitable distribution.

ISRD Director Mr. Sudhir Sabat conducted the program and, in his welcome address, highlighted that water and sanitation are fundamental human rights. He elaborated on the efficient use and conservation of water. Speakers pointed out that life is impossible without water, yet due to unequal distribution and pollution, the poor and marginalized communities are the most affected. Therefore, it is essential for youth to come forward and raise their voices for equal water rights.
During the event, young participants, including trainees from the defense training program at Samantaray Academy, shared their views on water conservation, rainwater harvesting, and mindful daily usage of water.
At the end, all participants collectively took a pledge to protect water resources, prevent pollution, and ensure equal access to water for all sections of society. The program reinforced youth voices and fostered a positive mindset toward equal rights and sustainable water management. The enthusiastic participation of hundreds of young individuals and intellectuals was witnessed.
