IN SIMULTANEOUS VIGILANCE OPERATIONS IN SAMBALPUR, MAYURBHANJ AND NAYAGARH, 3 GOVERNMENT SERVANTS NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE FOR BRIBERY/CORRUPTION.
TAHSILDAR BAMRA ARRESTED FOR DEMANDING AND TAKING BRIBE RS.15,000/- IN A LAND MUTATION CASE.
DISTRICT LABOUR OFFICER (DLO), NAYAGARH NABBED FOR DEMANDING AND TAKING BRIBE RS.6,000/- FOR ISSUE OF LABOUR CARDS TO POOR LABOURERS.
PEO MAYURBHANJ NABBED FOR EMBEZZLEMENT OF GOVT. FUNDS OVER RS.5.68 LAKHS MEANT FOR DISTRIBUTION TO SENIOR CITIZENS AS OLD AGE PENSION.
1) SRI ASWINI KUMAR PANDA, OAS, TAHASILDAR, BAMRA, DIST- SAMBALPUR NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 15,000/- FOR CONVERSION OF AGRICULTURAL LAND TO HOMESTEAD LAND IN A MUTATION CASE.
Today i.e. on 12.09.2025, a short while ago, Sri Aswini Kumar Panda, OAS, Tahasildar, Bamra, Dist-Sambalpur has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs.15,000/- from the Complainant for conversion of agricultural land to homestead land in a mutation case. For about a month, the complt had been requesting Sri Panda, Tahasildar for conversion of agricultural land. But, Sri Panda demanded bribe Rs.20,000/- to allow conversion and issue of RORs in favour of complt. When the complt. expressed his inability to pay such a huge amount as bribe, Sri Panda, Tahasildar reduced the bribe amount to Rs.15,000/- and threatened to not allow the conversion in mutation case otherwise. Left with no other option, the complt. approached the Vigilance authorities, following which, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Panda, Tahasildar, today while taking bribe Rs.15,000/- from the complt. through his office driver Sri P. Praveen Kumar. The driver has also been taken into custody. The entire tainted bribe money Rs.15,000/- has been recovered from them and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Sri Panda, Tahasildar from DA angle.
In this connection, Sambalpur Vigilance P.S. Case No.17 dt.11.09.2025 U/s.7 P.C. (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against both the accused persons namely Sri Panda, Tahasildar and Sri P. Praveen Kumar, Driver. Detailed report follows.
2) DISTRICT LABOUR OFFICER, NAYAGARH NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE WHILE TAKING BRIBE RS 6,000/- FOR ISSUANCE OF LABOUR CARDS.
Today, i.e. on 12.09.2025, short while ago Sri Chittaranjan Rout, District Labour Officer, Nayagarh has been apprehended by Odisha Vigilance while demanding and taking bribe of Rs.6,000/- from a Labourer (Complainant) for issuance of labour cards in favour of complt. and other 19 labourers.
The complt. and his colleagues, being poor labourers, were unable to pay the demanded bribe Rs.6,000/-. However, the accused Sri Rout refused to issue Labour Cards unless he was paid the demanded bribe Rs.6,000/-. In the process there was a delay of nearly one year for issuance of cards. Hence, the Complt. reported the matter to Vigilance authorities alleging harassment by Sri Rout. Following this, a team of Odisha Vigilance nabbed Sri Rout, today while taking bribe Rs.6000/- from the complt. The entire tainted bribe money has been recovered and seized from the possession of Sri Rout, DLO.
There were allegations against Sri Rout for demand of bribes from poor labourers for issue of Labour Cards for which he was under the Vigilance scanner.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are being conducted at three locations linked to Sri Rout from DA angle.
In this connection, Bhubaneswar Vigilance PS Case No.19 dtd.11.09.2025 U/s 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered. Investigation is in progress against accused Sri Rout, DLO. Detailed report follows.
3) PANCHAYAT OFFICIAL, DIST-MAYURBHANJ NABBED BY ODISHA VIGILANCE FOR EMBEZZLEMENT OF GOVT FUNDS OVER RS 5.68 LAKHS MEANT FOR OLD AGE PENSION.
In another vigilance operation, Miss Puspita Mahakud, Former PEO, Luhasila GP under Bijatola Block, Dist-Mayurbhanj, A/P attached to Sub-Collector, Rairangpur, Dist-Mayurbhanj has been nabbed for embezzlement of Govt. funds to the tune of Rs.5,68, 950/- meant for distribution to senior citizens as Old Age Pension.
