Halla Bol in Sewri !

Cancel ‘Sunburn’ ! – Nasha Virodhi Sangharsh Abhiyan

Mumbai – The ‘Sunburn Festival’, which has always remained controversial and was expelled from Goa and Pune, is scheduled to be held this year from 19 to 21 December at Sewri in Mumbai. To demand the immediate cancellation of the infamous ‘Sunburn Festival’—notorious for excessive drug consumption, deaths of youths, obscenity, and evasion of government taxes— a public agitation was organized on 18 December at Sewri by the Nasha Virodhi Sangharsh Abhiyan. Youths, patriotic citizens, and representatives of various Hindutva-oriented organizations participated in large numbers.

Over the past week, protests against the ‘Sunburn Festival’ have been held by the Nasha Virodhi Sangharsh Abhiyan in Dadar, Vashi, Nerul, Vasai, and Virar. Opposition to this event is rising from various parts of Maharashtra, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Palghar districts. There is a widespread demand that an event pushing the younger generation into the vortex of drugs should never be allowed on the soil of Maharashtra.

During the agitation, the question was raised as to why the administration granted permission to the ‘Sunburn Festival’, which is infamous for drug distribution, responsible for the deaths of children, involved in tax evasion, and for inciting the youth to substance abuse. The Nasha Virodhi Sangharsh Abhiyan demanded that the ‘Sunburn Festival’ be permanently expelled not only from the land of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s Maharashtra but from the entire country.

On this occasion, slogans such as “Sewri residents, unite | Condemn Sunburn,” “Sunburn, what is your identity | Drugs and intoxication,” “Sunburn, what have you done | You looted the nation’s money,” “Awaken the youth | Drive away Sunburn,” “Remove Sunburn | Save Mumbai,” “Remove Sunburn – Save the Nation,” and “Victory to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj” were raised. The protesters also held placards opposing ‘Sunburn’.
