Citizen Cooperative Bank Becomes the World’s First Bank to Install a Sanskrit Name Plate

Jammu, Panama Chowk:
In a historic step towards the preservation, promotion, and public awareness of Sanskrit—the language of India’s cultural consciousness and Vedic heritage—Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust today formally installed a Sanskrit name plate at the Head Office of Citizen Cooperative Bank, Panama Chowk. This initiative is not only a milestone in the revival of Sanskrit but also a unique example of integrating Indian cultural values into the banking sector.

The dignified programme was graced by DIG Shri Kaushal Sharma as the Chief Guest. Describing Sanskrit as the soul of India, he said that Sanskrit is not merely a language but the foundational pillar of knowledge, science, philosophy, yoga, Ayurveda, and Indian culture. He emphasized that the adoption of Sanskrit by public and commercial institutions serves as a powerful medium to connect the younger generation with their cultural roots. He congratulated the Trust and the bank management for this innovative and commendable initiative.
Speaking on the occasion, SP Operations and Cyber Crime Shri Kameshwar Puri stated that values such as ethics, discipline, and social harmony are deeply embedded in the Sanskrit language. He said that the use of Sanskrit in public life not only strengthens cultural consciousness but also fosters positive thinking and moral values in society. He termed the initiative exemplary and urged other institutions to draw inspiration from it.
Chairman of Citizen Cooperative Bank, Shri Praveen Sharma, in his address, said that the bank is not merely a financial service provider but a responsible institution committed to fulfilling its social, cultural, and moral responsibilities. He stated that the installation of the Sanskrit name plate has further enhanced the bank’s dignified identity and will significantly contribute to increasing respect and awareness for Sanskrit in society.
President of the Trust, Mahant Rohit Shastri (State Awardee, Jyotishacharya), said that Sanskrit is one of the world’s most ancient, scientific, and enriched languages, encompassing invaluable scriptures such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Puranas, Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Ayurveda. He clarified that the Trust’s objective is to take Sanskrit beyond scriptures and books and integrate it into daily life, administrative frameworks, and public spaces. The Sanskrit name plate installed at Citizen Cooperative Bank is a living symbol of this resolve. Expressing gratitude to the bank management, he said that such cooperation infuses new direction and energy into the Sanskrit movement.
On this occasion, in a significant step, Mahant Rohit Shastri also obtained primary membership of Citizen Cooperative Bank and opened an account at the New plot Bank branch, conveying a strong message that modern banking can harmoniously coexist with Sanskrit and indigenous values.
With this historic initiative, Citizen Cooperative Bank has become the world’s first bank to install a Sanskrit name plate at its Head Office, thereby initiating a new cultural tradition in the banking sector.
The programme was attended by director charnjeet singh raina,MD Ravi Kant, Sanjeev Lamba,Sukhjeet Singh, M. L. Verma, Prabodh Sharma, Rajeev Jandial, Tarsem Gupta, Sanjeev Khajuria, senior bank officials, Ashwani Bakhshi, Ramnam Sharma, Ajay Sharma, office bearers of the Trust, Sanskrit enthusiasts, and a large number of eminent citizens. All participants unanimously praised the initiative, describing it as an inspiring and historic step towards the revival of Sanskrit and the preservation of Indian cultural values.
The programme concluded with a collective resolve to promote the Sanskrit language, preserve Indian culture, and propagate moral values in society.
