Police said it had arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office and had taken him to a London police station for interview
Earlier this month, the Met said it was carrying out a criminal investigation into Mandelson, and officers searched his homes in Wiltshire and Camden
That followed the release of emails by the US Department of Justice (DoJ), which led to allegations that Mandelson had forwarded market-sensitive information to Jeffrey Epstein when he was business secretary under Gordon Brown
The Met has not confirmed the specifics of the alleged offence Mandelson has been arrested over
