Earth and moon are two celestial bodies moving round sun and earth respectively. Since they are opaque they do have their shadows.

Sun rays don’t pass through them. While moving moon enters the shadow of earth on some full moon days invisibility of moon during that period is called lunar Eclipse. Similarly when moon obstructs solar rays from falling on some parts of earth it is solar eclipse in that region.

This is what we teach about eclipses in school but our religious beliefs is different. The earth has one satelite. But there are planets in solar system with more satelites ,ie Mars two ,Jupiter twelve. There eclipse may be more. Sooner we correct our religious beliefs better..
