NASA has discovered an exoplanet, K2-18b with eight times the mass of Earth, and twice its size with an atmosphere containing a gas typically produced by life.

Detected by the James Webb Space Telescope, the planet orbits the red dwarf K2-18 within its habitable zone, 124 light years away. Observations revealed carbon-bearing molecules like methane and carbon dioxide.

Additionally, a potential detection of dimethyl sulfide (DMS), a gas produced by life on Earth, hints at the possibility of habitability, though the planet’s large size and other factors may affect this.
