Second Phase Induction program for PGT Teachers Begins
Bhubaneswar, June 16, 2026:
The Directorate of Higher Secondary Education under the School and Mass Education Department has organized the second phase of an Induction Training for Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs) appointed in Government Higher Secondary Schools and Government Upgraded Higher Secondary Schools across Odisha.
The training is being conducted at IMAGE, Siripur, with the participation of around 120 PGT teachers. The inaugural session was attended by Smt. Smita Rout, SPD, OAVs, Smt. Niyati Pattnaik, Director, DHSE, Joint Directors Sasmita Mali and Snigdha Mishra, and Deputy Director C.H. Vijayalakshmi, among others.
Addressing the participants, OAVS Director Smt. Rout emphasized the pivotal role of teachers in shaping students’ futures and urged them to serve as a source of inspiration for young learners. She noted that the responsibility of building responsible citizens for society and the nation rests largely with teachers, making proper guidance to students one of their foremost duties.
Director Smt. Pattnaik highlighted the significance of higher secondary education in students’ academic and career development. She stressed that teachers must continuously learn and upgrade their knowledge to effectively impart education, adding that the Induction training would greatly assist them in this endeavor.
Earlier, Joint Director Smt. Sasmita Mali delivered the welcome address and provided an overview of the workshop. Deputy Director Smt. C.H. Vijayalakshmi coordinated the programme, while Joint Director Snigdha Mishra proposed the vote of thanks.
The Induction for PGT teachers is being conducted in two phases. The second phase, which commenced on June 16, will continue until June 20, 2026. A total of 120 PGT teachers from the subjects of Odia, English, and Education are participating in this phase.
The workshop will cover various aspects of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in teaching, Odisha Education Rules, operation of the SAMS and Shikshajyoti portals, the POSH Act, scholarship schemes, administrative responsibilities, examination and evaluation procedures, and career guidance, among other important topics.
