The Visibility of Sacrifice and the Power of Wealth
Power, money, and wealth not only conceal a person’s weaknesses; they also enable the rich and powerful to project themselves as selfless sacrificers and devoted servants of the people.
The harsh reality, however, is that without power, position, or wealth, even the greatest sacrifices and contributions often go unnoticed and unacknowledged—even by one’s own people. Merit, dedication, and service do not automatically earn recognition. Visibility itself is frequently determined by status and influence.
This is one of the reasons why people relentlessly pursue power and wealth. Beyond material comfort, they seek recognition, influence, and a platform from which their actions and achievements can be seen, heard, and appreciated.
In many societies, it is not sacrifice alone that commands attention, but the power behind it.
