Hope police will conduct an impartial investigation within 15 days: Dr Lekhasri Samantsinghar

In a video, Senior General Secretary and Spokesperson Dr. Lekhashri Samantsinghar said she had lodged an FIR at the women’s police station on 04 July 2025 in protest against the indecent, rude remarks and character assassination made by Nilgiri BJP MLA Santosh Khatua on 02 July 2025.
She informed that the police did not take any steps to investigate this incident and later she also complained to the State Women’s Commission, National Women’s Commission, DGP, Governor, Speaker and His Excellency the President. After all this, she reached the doorstep of the Hon’ble High Court against the inaction of the police and as per the directions of the High Court, after a long seven months, the police recorded her statement under BNSS section 183 with the magistrate on 02 February 2026. She hopes that as per the directions of the Hon’ble High Court, the police will conduct an impartial investigation and inform her about the results within 15 days. The police have also ignored the instructions given by the State Women’s Commission for her safety. As Santosh Khatua is a ruling party MLA, the conspiracy of the government and the police is being exposed.
This is in context of Bharatiya Janata Party’s Nilgiri MLA, Mr. Santosh Khatua’s obscene, vulgar, indecent, and derogatory remark against women in public, being a matter of grave concern neither the BJP nor the state Government has taken any action in this regard.
She had earlier repeatedly said, the objectionable and indecent remarks made by Nilgiri MLA Mr. Santosh Khatua about her, and the silence of the entire BJP and the state Government, reflects their mindset towards the women of Odisha. Such behavior has demoralized women and normalized the practice of character assassination of women within the BJP. Instead of taking action against Mr. Khatua, the BJP is projecting him as a poster boy, which is highly condemnable.
