The Central Government unveiled the ‘Chakshu’ facility on the Sanchar Saathi portal, marking a significant step in empowering citizens to combat communication fraud effectively. Launched by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, the initiative aims to proactively address suspected fraud in communication channels such as calls, SMS, and WhatsApp messages.
Under the Secure India project, the government has been steadfast in its efforts to curb cyber-frauds at national, organizational, and individual levels. Chakshu enables citizens to report suspicious communication attempts, including requests for KYC updates, bank account details, payment wallets, SIM cards, and gas connections, which are often tactics used by fraudsters.
Lt. Gen. S.P. Kochhar, Director General of the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in combating cyber frauds. He highlighted the need for stakeholders to unite and contribute to preventing malicious activities, underscoring the collective responsibility in safeguarding citizens against fraudulent schemes.
