Congress to raise Manipur issue in Parliament during budget session


Guwahati: The Congress party, on Wednesday announced its commitment to address key issues such as inflation, unemployment, and the ongoing unrest in Manipur in the Parliament during the Budget session.

The announcement came after a meeting of the Congress parliamentary strategy group, presided over by the party’s parliamentary party chief, Sonia Gandhi.

The strategy meeting, attended by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and other party leaders, discussed the party’s approach for the Budget Session, where Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the interim budget on Thursday.

Speaking after the meeting, Congress’ deputy leader in Rajya Sabha, Pramod Tiwari, informed that issues like inflation, unemployment, doubling farmer’s income, and the situation in Manipur will be raised by the party.

Congress’ chief whip in Lok Sabha, K Suresh, alleged that the government is not interested in people’s issues.

The Budget Session commenced with President Droupadi Murmu addressing the joint meeting of both Houses of Parliament on Wednesday.
