An Indian-origin doctoral student at Indiana’s Purdue University was found dead in the woods, marking the second death of an Indian student at the university and the fourth such case in the USA this year. The student was identified as 23-year-old Sameer Kamath.
Kamath’s body was discovered at Crow’s Grove Nature Preserve, according to Warren County Coroner Justin Brummett. Kamath had completed his master’s degree in mechanical engineering at Purdue in August 2023. He was pursuing further studies in the same department. The coroner’s office said that Kamath held US citizenship.
Kamath was from Massachusetts and received his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and enrolled at Purdue University in 2021.
