Ashfaqulla Khan (22 October 1900 – 19 December 1927) was a freedom fighter in the Indian independence movement against British rule and the co-founder of the Hindustan Republican Association, later to become the Hindustan Socialist Republican Association.
Ashfaqullah closed the Holy Quran that he was reading, put it under his arm, stood up and said, “Let’s go”. He took two steps at a time to the gallows. Before being hanged, he tied the Quran on his chest and recited the ‘Kalma’.

Against British govt The train robbery at Kakori was the Hindustan Republican Association’s (HRA) first major action in 1925. Two years later, prominent revolutionary leaders, including Rajendranath Lahiri, Ashfaqullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil, and Thakur Roshan Singh were hanged pertaining to the incident.
